Baghdad, Feb 16, (VOI) – Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki asserted to the U.S. President George W. Bush during a telecom conference that the major security plan codenamed (Rule of Law) being implemented now in the Iraqi capital Baghdad realized great success, Maliki's office said. "Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had a telecom conference with the U.S. President George W. Bush", al-Maliki's office said in a statement received by the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI). Al-Maliki asserted that the (Rule of law) plan realized great success in its first days, noting that Iraqi forces will tackle all armed groups to set up peace and stability in the capital Baghdad, the statement added. It also pointed out that Bush had renewed his support for the Iraqi official. U.S. President told al-Maliki "you are assuming a leading role in this sensitive stage and we will continue supporting your efforts to help render the ongoing political process in Iraq a success". The Iraqi Prime Minister had announced last Wednesday the beginning of a large-scale security plan in Baghdad to crackdown on gunmen and militias.
