Round-Up of Major Violent Incidents Across Iraq

Baghdad, March 3, (VOI) – Main security developments in Iraq on Saturday:

Kirkuk- Iraqi security forces detained on Saturday 14 suspected militants during a search campaign in Touz district, 180 km northeast of Baghdad, a security source said.

Anbar- A U.S. and Iraqi combined force launched on Saturday a search campaign in Anbar's western city of Hit arresting nine suspected militants, an eyewitness said.

Diala- Iraqi police patrols found on Saturday six unknown bodies dumped in farms near Baaquba, 57 km northeast of Baghdad, a police source said.

Falluja-A suicide bomber detonated on Saturday afternoon an explosives-rigged car targeting an Iraqi army checkpoint near Falluja city leaving unidentified number of casualties among the Iraqi soldiers, a security source said.

Baghdad- The U.S. army said on Saturday three service men were killed during a security crackdown in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

Tikrit- Two of the bodyguards of Maj. General Hamad Namis al-Juburi, the chief of the Salah al-Din police, were killed when an explosive charge went off near his motorcade, a security source said on Saturday.

Basra- A British vehicle was set ablaze on Saturday when an explosive charge was detonated near a British patrol in the southern Iraqi city of Basra, a police source said.

Baghdad- The body of an Iraqi journalist, who disappeared a week ago, was found within the precincts of al-Aamil district, according to the Iraqi Association for Defending Journalists' Rights on Saturday.

Baghdad- One woman was killed and two men were wounded when an explosive charge went off on Saturday on the main road linking Baghdad to the city of Diwaniya, 180 km south of the capital, an Iraqi police source said.

Kirkuk- An armed group of gunmen clad in army uniform kidnapped a journalist working for a weekly newspaper in Kirkuk, 250 km northeast of Baghdad, an official security source from the Iraqi police said on Saturday.

Basra- A U.S. soldier was killed and two others injured in an explosion west of Basra, a police source in the predominantly Shiite province, 550 km south of Baghdad, said.
