Monday Suicide Car Bomb Attack Killed Nine US Soldiers

The Islamic State of Iraq has claimed responsibility for yesterday's attack on a military outpost near Buquba, in Diyala province.

"Two knights from the Islamic State in Iraq ... driving two booby-trapped trucks hit the heart of the Crusader American headquarters in the region of Diyala," a statement from the Sunni group of the Islamic State in Iraq said in a Web posting, as reported by Reuters.

According to the US military, nine soldiers were killed, and twenty soldiers and one civilian were wounded, when the patrol base was attacked by a suicide car bomber on Monday.

The statement from the Islamic State claims two suicide bombers carried out the attacks, and that twenty soldiers were killed.
