BAGHDAD - A car bomb killed one civilian and wounded four others when it exploded near a police checkpoint at the entrance of the Jadiriya bridge in southern Baghdad on Sunday, police said.
BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol killed two policemen and wounded four civilians in eastern Baghdad’s Zayouna district on Sunday, police said.
BAGHDAD – Two policemen were killed and five wounded in a roadside bomb explosion near the Rusafa amusement park in eastern Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - A car bomb killed one civilian and wounded three others near the Al-Rashid vegetable market in southern Baghdad on Sunday, police said.
BAGHDAD – A mortar attack on the Dora district in southern Baghdad wounded 12 people and damaged several houses on Sunday, police said.
BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb explosion wounded three people in the Mansour district in central Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - Iraqi soldiers killed eight militants and detained 29 others in operations around Iraq in the last 24 hours, the Defence Ministry said. Three Iraqi soldiers were wounded in the operations.
BAGHDAD – The U.S. military said it detained three suspected militants linked to “Iranian terror networks” in northern Adamiya near Sadr city, the U.S. military said.
BAGHDAD – The U.S. military said Iraqi troops detained five suspected Al-Qaeda militants in the Dora district of southern Baghdad.
BAGHDAD – The U.S. military said it killed six militants and wounded three others in separate operations in the Rashid district of southern Baghdad on Thursday and Friday.
RAMADI - A suicide car bomber targeting a police station killed five policemen and wounded 14 others in Ramadi (110 km west of Baghdad), police said.
RAMADI – Gunmen killed three civilians in a commercial market at the Huz area in Ramadi, police said. The police said it arrested one of the gunmen.
FALLUJAH - A suicide truck bomb blew up near a police checkpoint killing five policemen and wounding 13 others in the Ni’aimiya village south of Fallujah (50 km west of Baghdad) on Sunday afternoon, police said.
SAMARRA – The Iraqi army said it killed a suicide bomber and detained another on the main Samarra-Baghdad road on Sunday.
YETHRIB - Gunmen kidnapped the deputy chairman of the municipal council in Yethrib east of Balad (80 km north of Baghdad) on Sunday morning, police said. The source added that fliers signed by the Islamic State of Iraq were distributed in Yethrib, threatening to target local policemen if they do not quit their jobs in three days.
LATIFIYA - The bodies of two people were found in Latifiya (40 km south of Baghdad), police said.
YUSUFIYA - A woman was killed and two others were wounded when a mortar round hit their house in Yusufiya (15 km south of Baghdad), police said.
MUSAYYAB – A policeman was killed and another wounded in a roadside bomb attack against their patrol in Musayyab south of Baghdad, police said.
MAHAWIL – Joint U.S.-Iraqi troops detained 15 suspected militants and confiscated weapons during raids in Mahawil on Sunday, Iraqi police said. A civilian was wounded during the raids, the source said.
ZAB - Gunmen killed a lawyer when they attacked his home in the Zab village southwest of Kirkuk (250 km north of Baghdad) on Sunday morning, police said.
HAWIJA - An Oil Facilities Protection guard was killed in a drive-by shooting in Hawija (70 km south west of Kirkuk) on Saturday evening, police said.
HAWIJA - A militant was killed when a roadside bomb he was planting exploded near a market in Hawija, police said.
KIRKUK – Two people were killed and two others wounded when gunmen opened fire at their vehicle near the Sarha village south of Kirkuk, police said.
ZUMMAR – Authorities detained 22 Kurds who were attempting to cross illegally into neighboring Syria near Zummar north west of Mosul on Sunday, a Kurdish official said.
HAJJ UMRAN – Iranian forces bombed suspected PJAK positions inside the Iraqi border at the Qandeel mountains and Hajj Umran areas on Sunday, a Kurdish official said.
BAQUBA - Three Iraqi soldiers were killed and three wounded when they were ambushed by gunmen inside a house during a raid in the city of Ba’quba (57 km north east of Baghdad) on Sunday, police said.
NAJAF – Gunmen assassinated a school director near his home in the Askari district of Najaf on Sunday, police said. The victim, Mohammed Abdul Wahhab, was a former Ba’ath Party member and had received several death threats, police said.
KUT – Gunmen attacked a U.S. military patrol with roadside bombs and small arms fire in the Zahraa’ district of Kut (180 km south east of Baghdad) on Sunday morning, locals said. The U.S. military did not comment on the incident.
NUMANIYA - Police retrieved the bodies of three unidentified people with bullet wounds from a river in the town of Nu’maniya (120 km south east of Baghdad), police said.
SAMAWA – An influential Shi’ite cleric survived a roadside bomb explosion that targeted his residence in Samawa (280 km south of Baghdad) on Sunday afternoon, a security source said. The bomb was planted near the house of Sayyid Kadhim Al-Awwadi, the representative of exiled Iraqi cleric Ayatollah Kadhim Al-Ha’eri in Samawa.
NASIRIYA – Militants attacked the house of Dr. Tawfiq Al-Zaidi, a physician working for the Dhi Qar Health Directorate, with a hand grenade, wounding five people, in Nasiriya, police said.
BASRA - The body of a police colonel kidnapped on Saturday was found with gunshot wounds on the main road south east of Basrah (590 km south east of Baghdad) on Sunday, police said.
BASRAH – Gunmen attacked a British military base housing the British and U.S. embassies south of Basrah with rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire withour casualties on Sunday morning, a British military spokesman said. The source said all three British military bases in Basrah were targeted with indirect fire without casualties over the last 24 hours.
BASRAH – Gunmen kidnapped an Iraqi officer as he left the joint coordination center in the Hakimiya district of Basrah on Saturday night, a British military spokesman said.
