BAGHDAD - A car bomb explosion killed 50 people and wounded 60 at a fuel station in Baghdad's western Mansour district on Wednesday, police said, according to Reuters and VOI.
BAGHDAD - A car bomb explosion killed 20 people and wounded 40 near Hurriya Square in the Karrada district of central Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - A parked car bomb killed three people and wounded six others near the entrance to the commercial Kindi Street in the Harthiya district of central Baghdad near the Green Zone on Wednesday evening, police said, according to Reuters and VOI.

AZIZIYA – Wasit police said a roadside bomb explosion targeting a convoy of foreign security contractors near Aziziya south east of Baghdad destroyed a vehicle, killing one person and wounding another on Wednesday, according to VOI.
MAHMOUDIYA – Two policemen were wounded in a roadside bomb explosion targeting their patrol in Mahmoudiya on Wednesday, police said.
ISKANDARIYA - A roadside bomb killed one Iraqi soldier and wounded three others in Iskandariya (40 km south of Baghdad) on Wednesday, police said.
ZAKHO – Border guards arrested 24 people attempting to slip into Turkey near the Kurdish border town of Zakho on Wednesday, a Kurdish security source said.
ZAKHO – Turkish military artillery and jet fighter bombed areas around two Assyrian Christian villages inside the Iraqi border on Tuesday night without casualties, Kurdish security sources said.
MOSUL - Nineveh governorate police chief, Wathiq Al-Hamdani, escaped a roadside bomb attack on his convoy in Mosul on Wednesday, police said, according to Reuters and VOI. Four people, including two policemen, were wounded in the incident but Hamdani was unharmed.
MOSUL – The Iraqi Army killed three suspected insurgents in an ambush at the Hadbaa’ district of Mosul on Wednesday, an Iraqi Army media spokesman told VOI. Police found a car bomb factory in the Karama area of southern Mosul and detained 12 suspected insurgents, police said.
KIRKUK – A civilian was wounded in two roadside bomb explosions targeting a police patrol in central Kirkuk on Wednesday morning, police said. Police also detained two suspects who were attempting to kidnap a child for ransom in Kirkuk.
KIRKUK – Eight people, including two policemen, were wounded in a car bomb explosion targeting the convoy of a senior police officer in Kirkuk on Tuesday, police said.
HAWIJA – Gunmen assassinated a teacher in Hawija west of Kirkuk on Tuesday, police said. Another teacher had been killed north of Kirkuk on Monday.
DHILUIYA – A civilian was killed and another wounded during a nighttime raid by U.S. troops supported by helicopters on the Beshkan village east of Dhilu’iya on Wednesday, police said, according to VOI. U.S. troops detained 20 people from the village, the source said.
BALAD – Gunmen kidnapped 18 civilians at a fake checkpoint near the predominately Shi’ite town of Balad (80 km north of Baghdad) on Tuesday night, police said, according to Reuters and VOI.
KARBALA – Gunmen assassinated a former air force pilot near his home in the Wafaa’ district of Karbala on Wednesday, medical sources told VOI. Dozens of former Iraqi air force pilots, especially those who had served in the Iraq-Iran war, have been targeted for assassination by unknown gunmen since March 2003.
KARBALA – Three people from one family were killed and three wounded when their house collapsed after three cooking gas canisters exploded from being exposed to high temperature, police said on Wednesday, according to VOI.
KARBALA – Police found the body of an interpreter working for Karbala police on the Karbala-Najaf road on Tuesday, police said.
NASIRIYA – Four roadside bombs exploded near the houses of three policemen and an interpreter working for the U.S. military in different parts of Nasiriya on Tuesday without casualties, police said, according to Nasiriya News Network. Two rockets were also fired on the U.S. military base at the Imam Ali military base south of the city.
BASRAH – British troops opened fire on a vehicle transporting a television crew of the Iranian Al-Alam TV in central Basrah on Wednesday morning without casualties, the head of Al-Alam’s Basrah bureau told VOI. The crew was on its way to cover a roadside bomb attack on a British patrol, he said.
BASRAH - A British soldier was killed when a roadside bomb struck an armored Warrior vehicle on routine patrol in the city's Mishraq district on dawn Wednesday, a British military spokesman said today. The death brings to 165 the number of British servicemen killed in Iraq since March 2003.
BASRAH – The former head of the Pharmacists Union in Basrah, Dr. Jabbar Wadi, was released by his kidnappers on Tuesday night, the Basrah Health Directorate told VOI. He was kidnapped in Basrah last Saturday.
