Iraqi police forces arrested 23 in widespread raiding operations in the Amiriyat al-Faluja area of Anbar province on Wednesday, according to a report in Arabic on an Iraqi website.
The al-Haq News website reports in Arabic that eyewitnesses report that police forces surrounded a number of districts in the city and conducted raiding campaigns that led to the arrest of 23 individuals. The detainees were residents of the city, the agency writes.
Iraqi forces appeared to be consulting lists of targeted individuals as they conducted their raiding operations, al-Haq writes.
The news site, which takes an editorial line in opposition to the presence of foreign forces in Iraqi territory and the post-2003 Iraqi governments, alleges that the detainees were targeted for involvement with what it calls the Iraqi Resistance.
