Black market prices of cooking gas fell dramatically in all of the nine Baghdad neighborhoods where Slogger sources track prices of key commodities.
The price of cooking gas for the week ending March 8th fell a remarkable 39% in Sadr City, 30% in Kadhimiya, 25% in Karrada, 24% in Hay al-'Amil and 20% in Mansour, Ghazaliya, Sha'b and Harthiya, according to Slogger sources in the capital.
These fluctuations represent a marked shift compared with the last few weeks when cooking gas prices have been notably static. This is the first time this year that the price of this commodity has sunk to these levels.
The prices of auto fuel continue the downward trend seen in last week's data. Prices of gasoline dropped 14% in Baghdad al-Jadida and Sadr City and 6-7% in Karrada, Ghazaliya and Sha'b, according to Slogger sources.
In all nine districts black market prices of auto fuel and cooking gas remain much higher than the official prices of 400 ID/liter and 4000 ID/cylinder, respectively. These fuels are seldom available at these rates in Baghdad.
Prices in other key commodities in Baghdad neighborhoods remain unchanged, according to Slogger sources.
